Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertholt Brecht
Biographical material framed the play, particularly Brecht's appearance before
the House-Un-American Activities in the country where he had written Chalk Circle.
The production concentrated on the enthusiastic theatricality of an amateur
company of performing peasants, before darkening the tone as the story progressed.
The play ended with news broadcasts where children had been used as pawns in wars
and conflicts.
