Trumpets and Raspberries by Dario Fo
Dario Fo's comic tragic farce about urban terrorism, written in the 1980's,
but understandably relevant and prescient for contemporary events. The play
deals with the fictional failed car napping of Italy's leading industrialist
Agnelli by the Red Brigades and his subsequent mistaken identity involving a
trade unionist from his factory, Antonio. A rehearsal process that synchronously
co-incided with Dario Fo's Milanese mayoral election declaration and scandal
involving the Agnelli family that eerily echoed events in the play. A dark
carnivalesque production conceived as a puppet and marionette show produced by
Pulcinella.
